  • Snowstorm sparks spontaneous collaboration
Radio project crew members and local travelers help clear Oregon 34 after an early March snowstorm downed trees and caused landslides.
The Bothwell Construction crew wanted to get an early start on their work at the State Radio Project's Table Mountain site. Instead, they woke to six inches of snow blanketing Waldport on March 13.

Owner Glenn Bothwell and his crew tried to access the mountaintop by driving east on Oregon 34 but soon encountered the highway blocked by downed trees. The radio project crew pitched in and worked alongside the spontaneous team of assembled travelers and officials.

"[Oregon State Trooper Carla Urbigkeit] was right there in the middle of the volunteers, carrying logs and limbs and thanking us for our help," Bothwell said.
